some errors not making it to deadline logs

Hi there,

we see a LOT of these errors:

the max process just disappears. I looked at one of the machines, and its max.log is full of error messages:

2013/10/18 13:50:09 ERR: Error connecting to server.exe
2013/10/18 13:50:10 DBG: Stop network

None of these make it to the deadline log. The file is not being ‘tailed’ by anything tho, and the log does not indicate that deadline cant read the file.

Btw, even after reinstalling deadline on the machine with the latest installer, i get this message:

2013/10/18 14:07:11 INF: Job: C:\Documents and Settings\ScanlineVFX\Local Settings\Application Data\Thinkbox\Deadline6\slave\LAPRO1237\plugins\52618b22d3e2b41eec34868d\deadlineStartupMax2012.max

Is the installer missing some redistributable?

Tried reinstalling deadline, installing the only redistributable lighting seems to require:

microsoft.com/en-us/download … x?id=26368

But its still failing…

Seems like its a plugin.ini issue somehow? Not related to the redistributables

if i put lighting.dlx in the stdplugs, it loads it fine

Any ideas? Its win7 and max 2012, which has its retarded way of managing user plugin inis…

It appears that our InstallSettings.ini in the max root was not always formatted in a way deadline expected it. Max understood it however, and read the values as “useUserProfile=0”. Deadline failed on it and assumed that the userprofiles are being used.

Anyway, i fixed the ini files, so it seems good now.

However, its odd that those errors are not showing up in the deadline log. They are in the max.log file

Hey Laszlo,

We think we found the reason why the Max.log contents weren’t making it into the error report. This should be fixed in beta 9.

Cheers,
