Source seeds not changing

Beta 17

I have a simple pflow setup, Source with Render input into Event with Birth, Position Icon, and Display.

When I generate partitions, the seed in the Position Icon is incremented. I can see this by loading the PRTs into the loader and changing the viewport percentage from 100 to 90 shows particles disappearing.

When I move the Position Icon to the Source, below the Render, the seeds are NOT incremented. I can see this by the fact that the PRT loader shows much fewer particles, and reducing the viewport percentage from 100 to 90 does nothing, because the particles are on top of one another.

I am looking into this.

JFYI, you can open the Krakatoa Log Window, set it to Debug mode Edit>Logging Level>Logging Debug and watch all the output - the randomizing of seeds is logged pretty extensively there, so you can see what is going on in a particular scene.

I am looking into this.

Found the problem, fixing it.

(I did not write the original code for this, so I never realized it was skipping the Emitter’s operators. :o)

The problem is now fixed. Do you need a patch or can you live with the current limitation until the next beta build?

The only reason I have the Position operators in the Source is so I can have 10 Sources feeding 1 birth event to get over the 10 megaparticle limit.

I can wait for the next beta, no problem, I wouldn’t expect a patch for a problem that originates with ADSK’s silly legacy limit.
