Splitting off CPUs as individual slaves?

I worked at a larger VFX house as a Render Wrangler and we had the ability to modify the farm in such a way that we could breakout the machines into their CPUs.

Kine of like:

If I had a 4 core machine it would show up as such:

Slave01.1
Slave01.2
Slave01.3
Slave01.4
etc…more with hyper-threading

Then we would be able to assign multiple jobs per machine. Since my current company is looking into getting some 20 core Dell rack mounted servers I started thinking about having the ability to split off the CPUs as individual slaves. I obviously don’t want to have them act as one Slave and I’m sure my IT department will come up with a solution. But I figured I’d ask if this was possible with Deadline.

In Deadline, you can run multiple slaves on a machine, and you can set their affinity in the slave settings, so I think that would allow you to do what you’re asking.

Multiple slaves: thinkboxsoftware.com/deadlin … pleslaves/
CPU affinity in slave settings: thinkboxsoftware.com/deadlin … e_Settings

Oh yes, you are absolutely right! I remember having problems with one of my machines running multiple instances, I can’t believe I forgot about that lol.

Thanks for the response, this is exactly what I wanted.
