Are there any options for the standalone webservice?
When asking for help, i just get this:
[root@lascript0004 ~]# /opt/Thinkbox/Deadline7/bin/deadlinewebservice -help
Command line help for Deadline Web Service 7.1 (7.1.0.32)
© 2002-2015 Thinkbox Software Inc
-help : Specify this flag to show the command line usage
Web Service Shutting Down...
In particular i’m looking for logging options (ideally it would handle logging on its own like the other services do)
I haven’t played with it. I doubt there will be options for logging however.
They’re not in /var/log/Thinkbox/Deadline7 as “deadlinewebservice-blah”?
No, they are just going to the std out, there doesn’t seem to be any mechanism to manage starting/restarting the webservice (via the launcher), or any log->file direction.
I’ll look at some logging / log rotation options then.
It seems to be creating its logs in “C:\ProgramData\Thinkbox\Deadline7\logs” on Windows. Those should roll over correctly. I guess it’s time for me to play with the Linux one.
I’m honestly a bit surprised it’s so alien from the rest of our tools. It is supposed to be considered an advanced tool, so it may just be meant for larger deployments like you folks.
I’ll go get myself familiarized with this stuff.
Update: Looks like it’s working on my Linux VM here:
[root@support-vm-linux bin]# cat /var/log/Thinkbox/Deadline7/deadlinewebservice-support-vm-linux-2015-08-03-0000.log
