Hello,
Is there a way to set a project to “critical” like in 3dsmax?
We decided to go witht the order Pool_Priority_Date.
Sometimes there a jobs in between we really need fast (everyone knows that). We need to set the priority to 100 and the job would need to stop all other tasks. Is there a way in Deadline to do that?
Thanks,
Tim
You could create a “critical” pool and assign it first priority to all
the slaves. Jobs submitted to this pool would take then take precedence
over other jobs in the farm. Of course the slaves must finish their
current task before they move on to the critical job.
There isn’t an automatic “kill all other jobs and render this job”
option in Deadline, mainly because this type of action isn’t always
desirable (ie: you don’t want to kill a 10 hour render that has already
rendered for 9 hours). To manually achieve this, a super user could
right-click on the slaves in the monitor and select “Remote Control -
Restart Slaves”. This will cause the slave to drop its current task,
restart, and then pick up the job with the highest priority. In the next
release of Deadline, there will be a simple Cancel Task remote control
option which will essentially do the same thing.
Cheers,
- Ryan
