Stoke MX 2.0.8.55168 (RC3) including Genome - March 19, 2014

…And here comes the first build of Stoke MX 2.0 that includes the Genome modifier (formerly v1.1)!

As you might have read on Max Underground, we have decided to discontinue the Genome product and roll it completely into Stoke MX 2.0. Genome will use the same license as Stoke. This means that existing users of Stoke MX 1.0 will get both Stoke MX 2.0 AND Genome MX with their free update. Existing Genome users will also get both Stoke MX 2.0 and the updated Genome at no additional cost, regardless of the state of their maintenance support contract (as both “thank you” and “sorry for the delayed updates”). New users who purchase Stoke MX 1.0 before the release of 2.0 will pay $495 and receive both 2.0 and Genome when the product is out. New users who purchase Stoke MX 2.0 after it official release will receive both 2.0 and Genome, but the price will be higher. The new price has not been determined yet though.

We are moving all Genome Beta Members to the Stoke group. You will have to email Sales@thinkboxsoftware.com to request a Stoke 2.0 license to run the new build. Please use the Subject Line “Existing Genome Beta Tester Migrating To Stoke 2.0 - License Request”.

Genome now shares the same DLL with Stoke and also reuses the exactly same Magma UI scripts, so all features of the Stoke Magma editor are identical with the one in Genome (except for explicit differences coded into the UI to make the two work in their respective contexts).
Since this is the first time we include the Genome code inside of the Stoke DLL, we expect some glitches, so please keep your eyes open!
There will be further RC builds with any necessary fixes, and we will also expose the Log Level filters to the Genome modifier’s UI so you can prevent the popping up of the Log the first time you create an unconnected Output. (Right now you can type in the MAXScript Listener

GenomeGlobalInterface.LoggingPopupLevel = #none

to suppress the automatic opening of the log.
Also, we will need to produce a 3dsMax 2015 build soon - it is currently not included in the installer.

Genome Integration

 • Merged Genome with the Stoke code base, now shipping in the same DLL, using the same Magma scripts and the same license as Stoke.
 • Added the Stoke InputField node to the Genome Magma to allow interaction between Stoke Fields and Genome (e.g. moving vertices with a FumeFX Velocity field)
 • Added code to allow old scenes containing Genome modifiers to load in the new build (some operator IDs had to change due to them being shared with Stoke). Please keep an eye for problems loading old Genome scenes!

New Features

 • Added OpenVDB .VDB file export option to the Field Data Exporter (in addition to FXD and F3D)
 • Added Deadline Submitter for Stoke Field Simulation, and a corresponding Deadline job script
 • Added icons for Field Data Exporter and Deadline Submitter
 • Added SHIFT+CTRL+F for Fire channel.
 • Added back FumeFX, RealFlow and Naiad channel filters when in Stoke Editor.

Bug Fixes

 • Fixed a bug in Magma Editor where the user could accidentally connect an Output node to an Output node, producing incorrect logic.
 • Fixed a MAXScript error in the Stoke Partitioning dialog caused by the Disk Space function when no Stoke object exists in the scene.
 • Fixed the creation of Float and Int channels to make arity 1 and not 3, e.g. when using CTRL+SHIFT+letter to make Outputs.

Misc.

 • You might notice a Point Size spinner in the Stoke Field Display modifier. It does nothing at the moment, but might get hooked up in the Max 2015 build.
