strange launcher behaviour in windows

Hi,

Start up my windows machine, login and launcher is running in the system tray.
RC on launcher and menu appears, but is missing “submit” & “scripts” menus.
Click away from the menu so that it disappears.
RC a 2nd time and the menus are now visible this time and always moving forwards, until the machine is restarted / logged off/on again.

Is this just me or does anyone else experience this?
Mike

When the launcher starts up, it doesn’t immediately populate the Scripts and Submission menus. It first establishes a connection with the repository and database and then populates them. How soon after your system started up did you right-click on the Launcher? I guess we need to figure out if these menus are never populated on the first right click…

OK. So, I started up my Win machine from cold, logged in and left it for just over 11 mins. RC the launcher icon in the system tray, no scripts/submit menu. Click away and then in less than 1 second later, RC the launcher icon again and the 2 menus are there!

It’s a Win 7x64 VM if that makes any difference. Deadline repository path is a windows z:\ drive mapping, which corresponds to a \vmware UNC path which is present the moment the VM is up and running (have confirmed this already). Also, the mongodb is not running on the win VM but on the OSX machine. Again, it can ping and “http://localhost:28017/” is viewable the instant the VM is up as well. License Server is on the OSX as well.

Thanks Mike. We did some testing here, and confirmed that the Scripts and Submission menus are never populated the first time the context menu is displayed. This should be fixed in beta 5.

Cheers,

Hi Ryan,
Just to re-confirm, this issue is actually on OSX as well as previously reported WIn platform. I’m guessing you already know this, but just making sure
Mike

The fix we implemented was a general purpose fix, so it should fix this problem for all platforms.

Cheers,

  • Ryan
