Submission script sends wrong version of After Effects to farm

I keep getting this error on the Deadline monitor: “Error: Deadline was unable to find After Effects 25.0 on Machines X, Y, and Z.”

The odd thing is the After Effects file being submitted is a version 25.1 file, the local machine submitting the file has 25.1 and all the render machines have 25.1.

Somehow the submission is sending the wrong version or something and I can’t find any options to change this in the submission script or the monitor settings.

Any ideas on what where to correct this?

I’ll see if I can test this, but I thought it should pull any 25 version, Are you sure AE is installed on X,Y and Z?

Where is your install for 25 located? in the same directory?

There’s only one entry here, but you could try adding another section in the param file in the repo

…\Deadline10Repository\plugins\AfterEffects\AfterEffects.param

[RenderExecutable25_1]
Type=multilinemultifilename
Label=After Effects CC 2025.1 Render Executable
Category=Render Executables
CategoryOrder=0
Index=17
Default=C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects 2025\Support Files\aerender.exe;C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC 2025\Support Files\aerender.exe;/Applications/Adobe After Effects 2025/aerender;/Applications/Adobe After Effects CC 2025/aerender
Description=The path to the After Effects CC 2025.1 executable file used for rendering. Enter alternative paths on separate lines.

EDIT: I’m using 2025.4 and don’t have this problem, I’m guessing it’s either not installed or you have an old Deadline install?

I’m not sure it has version error checking, ideally all the nodes are running the same version

Thank you so much for the detailed breakout. Took me quite a while to get go over this, but it turns out that Deadline was configured so that AE 25.1 shots were restricted to a different group than every other submission for some reason. Changed the job’s group and everything rendered fine. Thanks again.
