Submitting new job - problem

Hi,

I try to submit a new job to deadline and I can’t. When I use Deadline Monitor GUI (Submit ‘wizzard’) after filling all requested fields and clicking ‘Submit’ nothing happens. Literally nothing, no error messages, the window remains on the screen, etc…
When I try to submit via command line: DeadlineCommand.exe -SubmitCommandLineJob -executable…
I got the error: Error: The file exists. (System.IO.IOException) even if I submit a completely new job.

It happens only on one machine in the network, I can submit new jobs from other computers (using either GUI either command line).

I tried to delete content of C:\Documents and Settings[user]\Local Settings\Application Data\Frantic Films\Deadline folder but it didn’t help.

The machine in question was used to submit new jobs (via command line) until now. Suddenly it stopped working.

Any idea what may I check? Would appreciate your thoughts.

Thank you,
Michal

Hi Michal,

Have you tried restarting the machine to see if that helps? It sounds like a file is locked somewhere, and a machine restart might clear that up.

Cheers,

Hi Ryan,

thanks for your reply.

Yes, I restarted the machine.

Do you know where the ‘lock’ file may be? And what kind of file it is?

Thanks,
Michal

Which version of Deadline are you using? That should help narrow down where these files could be. Also, which type of job are you trying to submit from the Monitor (Maya, 3dsmax, etc)?

Thanks!

It’s deadline 3.1 and I try to submit Rendition job.

Here’s something to try. Unzip the attached files to somewhere on the machine (ie: C:\temp). Then open a command prompt and run this command:

deadlinecommand.exe "C:\temp\rendition_job_info.job" "C:\temp\rendition_plugin_info.job"

If you can send us the results, that would be great!

Cheers,
