The Balancer and Monitor hang when the database is shutdown

For the cloud we run our repository and database on a cloud server. It appears that the Balancer and Monitor will lock up if they cannot see database or perhaps the repository share. This was discovered when shutting down the repository server. The only way to close the applications is to crash the task out.

Deadline Version: 7.0.0.39 R (39858ea9f)
FranticX Version: 2.1.0.0 R (75b484e3d)
Windows 7

We’re aware of this problem but have yet to find a solution for it. Even though the applications are threaded, the whole application can still lock up for some reason if they are unable to resolve an unknown host (which is likely what’s happening here).

Cheers,
Ryan

Ok, thank you. Also, some further information in case you don’t have it: If I start the virtual machine server again, the monitor and balancer become responsive immediately and I can properly tell them to exit if I want.

Yup, that makes sense, since the Deadline applications can resolve the remote host again and return to normal operation.

Cheers,
Ryan
