The State Of The Nation Post (May 2nd)

I guess it is fair to post a short note to inform you of our progress and comment on the lack of builds in April.

As you probably know, development of Krakatoa is production-driven, and we are in the middle of a movie project that requires certain additions to Krakatoa.

In addition, we had to meet certain deadlines and several people normally involved in Krakatoa development were busy elsewhere.

This caused the Beta 14/15 release to be postponed multiple times. Please don’t stop pushing the current Build in your tests and production and report anything that you feel prevents you from working effectively with it (or appears to be a bug).

On the positive side, any improvements made for our movie project will be passed on to you and will be most probably part of the 1.0 release. While some of them might not be obvious in the upcoming build, some pretty amazing things are cooking…

Also, we started preparing the release of a WIKI based documentation site which will be home of Krakatoa’s online reference and possibly of other Frantic Software products.

We will announce the URL as soon as it is online.

We intend to launch a Krakatoa user gallery soon and would like to ask you for more examples of particle renders, both stills and animations you might want to share with the world. Please include details like Author/Company, Particle counts, render times, anything that you feel is important. (sending the Krakatoa History file would be cool, too ;))

Thank you for your support!

Beta Build 0.9.15 is now available for download.

Please install and search for bugs…

Have fun!
