hello their ,
Iv finnally got some second and i jumped into both max9 64 bit and max8 sp3 with krakatoa ( build beta6) and thinking particles 3.0 …
All i m founding soo far is on rendering pass , their is craches happening all the time on “Retieving The particles” Pass… nothing went through yet…
Im suspecting the new sdk of tp that Frantic must not have … it would be really cool to actually test it with the upcoming tp …
Also , i m not able to find where you can tell krakatoa to be used on X or Y Tp group only … It would be Real sweet to have an implementation that is From the Tp Ui itself where the user could , for example , in the group tree say that group is Krakatoa Power Assignable or is simply not … the Renderer would Search for those Flags from the Current Group list array of TP groups and will update his zillioons of Particles for tha group …
cheers,

I talked to Edwin about this back in August 2006, and he indicated he would be able to add some stuff to the SDK that would help Krakatoa get properties from the system. Currently we don’t have any Thinking Particles SDK, and are just using the 3ds max particle interface called IParticleObjectExt. We can probably figure out what’s crashing it and fix that, but until we get the SDK from Cebas I doubt we’ll be able to provide the more advanced features you’re asking for.
Cheers,
Mark
Thanks Rif,
I will pass this on to our developers.
As far as I know, we have only basic support for Thinking Particles 2.5. I
am not sure if our developers have 3.0 yet. I’ll get back to you with more
information as soon as possible.
Cool ,
Im looking foward to see that soon , it looks like an exciting plugin and would love to give it some serius tries and see how it can react in conjugaison with different solvers in tp and what kind of result it could bring …
I will try to push on ed ( once he gets back from his nice vacation island ) to get you guys whats needed to make it neet !

Rif

Any news on when we are going to have that tp3 compatibility ?
Any news on when we are going to have that tp3 compatibility ? <<
Hi Rif,
I’m pretty sure that TP3 is still in beta and under NDA, so we wouldn’t be
allowed to discuss specifics with anyone outside of Cebas. (I know you work
pretty closely with those guys, but please be careful about discussing other
beta products in this forum.)
That said, we are working with Michael McCarthy of Cebas North America to
insure we have the best possible support for Thinking Particles 2.5. We
have recently obtained the SDK, and will provide more support as soon as
possible.

The Krakatoa forum is “hidden” and “private” with restricted membership, but
Krakatoa is not covered by any NDA at this point. We are allowing our beta
testers to discuss the software publicly.
Thus my warning about using caution regarding other NDA products.
