Hey,
There used to be a version of Deadline where you could use up to two machines as slaves without a license.
Has this been dropped? And are there any trial versions we can use instead for tests?

All versions of Deadline support license-free mode. The only condition is that the Repository should have no more than two Slaves registered with it.
You could install a new Repository anywhere on the network, and set two Slaves to connect to it. These Slaves will check the Repository, see that only two Slaves are registered in total, and will say in the log that they won’t be searching for a license server and that they will be running in license-free mode instead.
As soon as a 3rd Slave connects to the Repository, all three Slaves will start looking for the license server.
As Bobo mentioned, this “license-free” mode is still supported in all versions of Deadline, but you will need to contact Thinkbox Sales (thinkboxsoftware.com/sales-contact/) to get the download link for Deadline.

Ryan
Thanks guys:)
How come there aren’t a download link on the website anymore?
We are developing an open source publishing framework, pyblish.com, and we would like to run tests with Deadline.
Very cool!
It’s been a few years since we had the download link on the website. We decided to make this change so that our Sales team can provide new Deadline users with all the information they need (installation instructions, etc) when they’re downloading and installing Deadline for the first time.
Cheers,
Ryan
