Unable to delete slave instances 6-0-50272

Unable to delete slave instances Deadline 6-0-50272 Windows Server 2008 R2 sp1 fully updated inc .net 4 framework. Beta 12 install after full uninstallation of v5 clients and repository. Full repository removal & mongo db installation.

After creating 3 new slave instances per rendernode, I now wish to delete them.

Previously in v5… I could right click the Deadline Launcher icon on the task bar and delete instances. This function has now moved to the Monitor application and there is no local option to delete the instances.

Disabling and shutting down the slaves from the monitor, allows me to then ‘Delete’ slaves. I get the message ‘1 slave(s) will be deleted premanently from the Repository’ After confirming yes and relaunching the Launcher on each node, the slave instances return, despite being ‘deleted’ via the Monitor. Please note spelling mistake in ‘premanently’ is Deadline’s mistake not mine.

I have tried deleting all additional slave instance data in C:\Users\Tim\AppData\Local\Thinkbox\Deadline6 but the slaves instances still remain.

I can’t find where in the repository the slave data is kept, so I can manually remove the instance references etc.

Same issue with Pulse running as without Pulse running.

Uninstall and reinstall local client DOES NOT fix the issue.

Tim.

Hi Tim,

The option is still there for the launcher, but by default it is disabled for “everyone”. You can modify the User Group Permissions from the Tools menu in the Monitor (while in super user mode) to have it available by default.

To delete it from the Monitor, you actually have to use the Remove Slave Instance option in the Remote Control menu instead of the Delete Slave option. Removing the instance will remove the local instance from the machine and delete it from the database.

If you want to remove instances manually, they are found in C:\ProgramData\Thinkbox\Deadline6\slaves.

Finally, thanks for catching that typo. It will be fixed in beta 13.

Cheers,
