Unable to lunch or reinstall Deadline

Hi,

Very new to deadlines, and this is my first week attempting to use the application, I had some success setting it up and using it, but now I’m baffled as to why it’s not working anymore. The setup is straightforward, two workstations, one laptop and a direct connection to the Repository. The workstation is also the render node.

I’d had a few crashes on the Repository, but a simple restart fix’s the issue. But on Saturday went downhill.

After rebooting the deadline monitor and launcher refused to open. After reading about the .net framework, I uninstalled and reinstalled the .net framework, still with no success.

I uninstalled and reinstalled every think on all the computers, including the Repository still no luck.

The event viewer in Windows 10 says

Faulting application name: deadlinelauncher.exe, version: 10.1.22.4, time stamp: 0x6243f19c
Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 10.0.22000.778, time stamp: 0x5f5438c2

On all the computers, strangely enough!

now I am no longer able to install the deadline due to a new error

"
There has been an error
Error running C:\Program
Files Thinkbox Deadline10/bin/deadlinecommand.exe -py-ver
2 PopulatePythonSync*C:\Program
Files\Thinkbox)Deadline10/pythonsync.zip:Unhandled
exception. System.Exception: Exception of type
System.Exception was thrown,
DeadlineCommand.DeadlineCommandAppStartup.Main(Strin
9] args)
The application will exit now."

Honestly, the setup is vanilla as they come. I’m confused about what happened that is preventing it from working; I have no idea what to do now. any advice would be appreciated

Thank you
S.

I am bumping this thread as I am having the same problem as well on the 10.1.22 client install. The repository installed totally fine but as soon as the repository upgraded the clients they stopped working. I then tried to install the client manually and got the same above error and crash on install. I then installed the 10.1.20.3 client and this worked fine and the client works as well. I turned off automatic updates on the repository in the meantime but It would be nice to get this fixed so that the clients and the repository can be on the same version.

already a thread about this here…

We did find this morning that the Deadline 10.1.22.4 is broken and reported this issue as a high severity to our devs. They are working on this but we won’t be able to give an ETA as of now.

The workaround we have figured yet here is to downgrade Deadline to 10.1.21.4, here is a documentation for downgrading: (Upgrading or Downgrading Deadline — Deadline 10.1.22.4 documentation)

Look forward to Deadline release notes for future bug fixtures and feature releases: (Release History — Deadline 10.1.22.4 documentation)
