This is a minor bug, but nontheless a bug
When I put anything more than a character from the standard English alphabet as comments or job names it gets displayed incorrectly and on the slaves the VFB displays similar nonsense.

I believe upgrading to 4.1 SP1 should fix this problem. Based on logs youâve recently posted in other threads, it looks like youâre still running the original 4.1 release.
Cheers,
Hmm, when was the SP1 released? I remember recently upgrading Deadline. Not too long ago. Iâm on 4.1.0.42706 R (as listed in the Monitor at each node) incl. the Repository.
It was released mid-September. You can download it from here:
software.primefocusworld.com/sof ⊠/download/
The version number is 4.1.43205. It uses the same license as the initial 4.1 release.
Cheers,
Oh! Didnât know. Thank you!
Ok, so I just upgraded my Repository as well as all my Slaves to the latest Deadline version (4.1 SP1 Build:43205), however, the unicode support is still broken.
It should read: âregĂĄl v lĂ©kĂĄrnÄ, overscanâ (itâs a Czech language, btw)
Strange. The problem only occurs if you specify âregĂĄl v lĂ©kĂĄrnÄ, overscanâ when submitting. If you change the comment in the jobâs properties after submitting, itâs fine. Weâll see if we can figure this one out.
Cheers,
âŠand it only seems to be a problem when submitting from the Monitor. I submitted a job with the same comment from within 3dsmax, and it worked fine. Weâll keep diggingâŠ
Turns out the submission scripts werenât creating Unicode-compatible text files for submission. This will be fixed in 4.2.
Cheers,
Fantastic news. Thank you!
Just an update on the naming bug, it also messes up special characters, like â:â it seems.
I may be missing something here, but it looks like the â:â in the Monitor image you posted looks fine. If Iâm not mistaken, that garbled text is from a 3dsmax window, which would be entirely out of Deadlineâs control. Can you confirm?
Cheers,
Yes, makes sense. The 3ds Max VFB label is completely messed up, but in Deadline Monitor, all seems correct and fine.
I thought the VFB label was also connected to Deadline.
