Unwanted lights being added to render layers/ collections in Maya when submitted to farm

Hi,

We are submitting jobs to our Deadline-managed Maya/Redshift render farm and are experiencing behaviours where lights that are not added to render layers inadvertently become added. Local renders behave as expected, but farm nodes add lights. Has anyone exprienced similar before? We have ensured that farm nodes to not have “add lights by default” option enabled to eliminate this. Could it be an issue with wildcards being intepreted? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciate.

I wonder if Deadline’s telling Maya to do the wrong thing (similar to only rendering the master layer regardless of if it’s set to be renderable.

Your local rendering test, was that with the troubleshooting guide or just by hitting render inside of Maya on one of the render nodes? If you were testing using the GUI I’d be curious about the results from the troubleshooting guide as the troubleshooting guide’s testing steps will inherit whatever off things Deadline might be asking Maya to do.
