So, I’m pretty new to deadline and iron python as well, but with a little prompt from Ryan, I was able to modify some of our submission scripts to allow us to test a Beta release in parallel witht the production release that we use for the REAL work.
Anyway, Deadline was updated recently and my masterpiece was overwritten. I had a backup on my little test setup at home, but I’m curious if this would be a function of deadline itself, or something to do with the way software is deployed here.

Hi Simon,
The Repository installer always tries to backup some repository folders when it updates itself. If you go to \your\repository\backup, you should be able to find your script in there.
This is normal behavior, as we have to update our out-of-the-box scripts when we modify them. If you’ve put a lot of effort into a custom script, it might make sense to rename it and place it alongside Deadline’s out-of-the-box scripts. That way, you never have to worry about an update overwriting it.
