Use Existing DF

Has anyone encountered problems setting this value to ‘True’? Is there anything I shoud know?

Hi Eric,





We tried to use that feature, but had to turn it off after a while

cause of frequent df crashes. This was with df4 back last august or

so, might be working a lot better with df5 and the current deadline

build.



Since the dfrnode is not restarted in that mode, the system will be a

LOT more bound to the bugs of dfrnode and df scripting language.

Dfrnode would crash, and just hang there. Deadline didn’t notice the

crash, and assumed the machine was just working away.



So, after a while it wasn’t really worth those extra licenses.



Also, it would cause problems when the df artists were working

(forgetting to turn off the slave), and the render would start up in

the background crashing their running copy of fusion.
