User Security

Is there a way to set certain users as super users and require a password if someone tries to change users but just leaves someone logged in indefinitely otherwise?

So for instance I want an intern account. They can be “Freelancer_01” and if they try to go into super-user mode they require a password since they aren’t a super user. But I can say “Artist_01” is a “Super User” and they don’t have to enter a password. If you try to change your username it then prompts you for a password? I don’t want to hassle artists every time they launch the monitor. But I also don’t really want a freelancer deleting other people’s jobs.

You can create user groups and place your users in different groups. For those that you want to give super user functionality to, just grant them that functionality so that they don’t have to enter super user mode.

Then you can enable the enhanced user security feature so that users can’t just change to other users.

That works really well.

next question:

Can we limit a “Max Priority” and include/exclude pools and render groups from a user?

Not through Deadline’s user system, but you could do this in an event plugin as part of the submission process. The OnJobSubmitted event could check who submitted the job, and change the priority or pool/group as necessary.
