Is there a way to limit the total number of slaves a given user is allowed to have rendering their jobs in the queue?

Hello,
No, there really is no way for Deadline to enforce such a limit. You could set up groups, and tell your employes they can only submit to a certain group, but there is no way to enforce that within Deadline.
Actually, you could use the Limits feature for this. It would involve creating a Limit for each user for whom you want to limit the number of slaves. It would also require that the user include their own Limit name along with any other Limits upon job submission. Alternately, you could add a Event plugin for job submission that adds the user’s Limit to the job based on the job submitter’s username.
