V-ray proxy

Deadline realy looks amazing, but it suports v-ray proxys, colecting them and sending to the Repository like images?

Deadline doesn’t send anything with the job to the repository other than the scene file itself (and that is optional). If a scene references any external files (which I’m assuming the proxy is in this case), they have to be on a network location so that all the slave machines have access to it. Output paths need to be network paths as well.

If I misunderstood your question, let me know!

thx for the reply… well, i think i´m doing something wrong here then =P
i have a 50 pc renderfarm and i´v read a lot about using file server and rendering external files by network…
but… how is my network gonna support that much traffic from every slave on every frame?? o.O
We use a LOT of proxys and X-refs, even sending everyting to the slave machine, i´v been getting some network issues.

Oops, I meant to also mention that there IS an option with 3dsmax to submit maps with the job, but I don’t think we’ve tested it specifically with vray proxies. We don’t recommend this though, as sending the maps to all the machines can cause large network traffic. We recommend keeping everything on the network because it ensures that the slaves can always see external references and can always save the output image.

With 3dsmax jobs, the slaves only load the scene once at the beginning of the job, and keep it loaded in memory until they are finished with the job, so the network load with loading files off the network should only occur at the beginning of the render. We definitely suggest giving Deadline a trial run on your farm to make sure it will suit your needs, and if you run into any problems during the trial period, we’ll see what we can do to help:
