Validation Error when setting up Asset Server

Hello, Im following the video Deadline 10 AWS Portal Setup. Im stuck on the Asset Server Configuration.

I’m trying to set up a local folder on dedicated media drive as the root asset storage. Example F:/3D-ASSETS/

I’m getting the following error.

There is an issue with the asset directory given. Cannot validate all the settings. Please check root directory specified. Would you like to still save the settings?

Thanks,

Hey Chance,

This is a local disk physically attached to the Asset Server machine? Can you try swapping the forward slashes to backslashes for your Root Directory entry and seeing if you still get that validation error.

Regards,

Charles

Thanks, Looks like it was fixed by selecting the path with the browse to folder tool. Im not getting the error anymore.

Are there any other suggestions how to solve this kind of error?
I also try to use a local disk (c:) as an Asset Server for AWS.

HI @Ilir_Kadria
I havent seen this with C: before, likely some other issue here. Can you send over your installer logs from %TEMP% (C:\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Temp), called bitrock_installer_*.log.
Would you be able to send your most recent installer log after a failed install so I can look for any red flags during the installation? I’d like to sort out any errors at install time before we dig too deep into anything else.

If you prefer to share it with us over email, feel free to cut a ticket at

Hello,
Did you ever solved this issue? I get the same error.
Trying to render with aws portal, but I am unable to bring the asset server online.

Are you running on windows?

Was always a pain for me. Had to make sure that our mapped drives were loaded via the ip address.

Sometimes you just have to restart the AWS Asset Server service.

You can find logs for the various services being used here:

C:\ProgramData\Thinkbox\AWSPortalAssetServer\logs
Awsportalassetserver_controller

C:\ProgramData\Thinkbox\AWSPortalLink
AWSPortalLink-ops-(DATE)-0000.GetTunnelParams
AWSPortalLink-ops-(DATE)

C:\ProgramData\Thinkbox\Deadline10\logs

If you check the asset server log file and search for “following” it should have a line saying following the mapping of the drives you set during installation.
