validity interval

When I load the supplied demo script “Push”, rolling the float spinner has no effect on the object. I either have to step to the next frame or hit the update button in the editor.

This seems like not the expected behavior.

Is the >AUTO button checked in the Editor?
It reflects the internal property $.modifiers[1].magmaHolder.autoUpdate which defaults to true for new modifiers.
When >AUTO is unchecked, changes to parameters or the flow will not trigger an update unless you press UPDATE or move the time slider.
When it is checked, changes are supposed to trigger updates, at least they do on my machine.

If you have >AUTO checked and it is still not updating, we will have to figure out what the difference is.

No it wasn’t.

Chalk this one up to my ignorance with the MX editor!

Thanks Bobo

Not really your fault. Back in Krakatoa 1.x, the AUTO-UPDATE was exposed in the Modifier UI itself. Right now it is not (but probably should be).

We just feel that in some cases it is a good idea to be able to disable updates and tweak the flow without having to wait for updates (like some Max modifiers have Never/Render Only). When >AUTO is off, it is kind of a Manual / Render Only / Time Change Only mode. But it is not very obvious in the current UI layout and requires you to have the editor open to know whether auto-updates are on or off.

Will add it to the list of things to fix, it is just a UI / usability problem as opposed to a validity interval bug (believe me, we had A LOT of these validity interval problems in the last few months  )
