Verification of 3ds max install hang

This is peppering about every job on a handful of random slaves per job at startup.

Typically, this means that Backburner isn’t installed correctly on the system. If you go to a DOS prompt and type:

cd "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2014" 3dsmaxcmd

do you get a result like this?

11/11/2013 21:45:53 PM; Error opening scene file: "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2014\"

If not, the latest standalone version of Backburner can be downloaded from ADSK support website. Also, if this is a brand new install of Max2014, it would be worth checking you have the latest SP3 installed and that in GUI mode it boots up ok? (30 day eval is fine for checking)

Well it’s not preventing the machines from rendering. It only does it on the first task of a job.

Did this just start happening? If so, were there any changes make to the farm (ie: 3dsmax update, windows update, etc)? Have you tried restarting the machines to see if that helps?

If it’s been going on for a while, maybe try upgrading to the latest version of backburner to see if that helps.

Cheers,
