Viewing issues

Hi All.

I have “installed” Sequoia-0.1.0.58095-win64 and it doesn’t seem to be displaying correctly. I can load pointclouds, but not rotate pan or zoom at all. The pointcloud does mesh but wont display the results, It just becomes a black screen in the viewing area

No crash no error messages.

Could I make a small suggestion that we hold a short webinar so that we can see what the simple workflow is to go from pointcloud to mesh, There seems very little logic in the pipeline.

Hi Steve,

Can you give us some specifics?

Hardware:

CPU
GPU
OS Version
RAM

Data:

What point format are loading?
How many points are in the file?
Have you tried using the point display % to reduce the number of points being drawn in the viewport? (see below)

The description you provide tells me that sequoia is loading too many points for your gpu hardware (or its a bug). Our SPRT format is designed to provide out-core access to point clouds and ensure a reasonable number are displayed and ensures that the viewport stays responsive. We can’t do this with other formats which is why there is a suggested import step. During meshing, all the points are included in the calculation unless you otherwise trim then using a region filter.

An introduction webinar is an excellent idea! We will look at getting one setup.

CPU i7-3840QM 2.8ghz
24GB Ram
Data on SSD
Nvidia Quadro K2000M

Loading PTS in to the pointloader and the numbers vary between 7 million to 2-300 million

Just wondering did that webinar ever happen and if so please advise how to see if it was recorded. New user as of today and I am still a little lost…

Thanks
John

Hi John,

Nope, we haven’t had a webinar yet. I assume you have watched the few introductory videos on the Sequoia website? They are now a bit outdated compared to the current Beta build, but the basics of the major features are still the same:
