I know we all hate it… but is there any known problem with vista?
I just got a new workstation with vista64bit installed and don’t really want to buy my a winXP64… well I guess there is no chance, but maybe you know a reason why vista is better…

No idea, we are running WinXP 64 here. Best.Windows.Ever.
Since Max is barely supported under Vista, we assume most users will still be running it on WinXP. If there are problems with Vista, we want to hear from you (beta testers) ASAP!

Nope, never heard of a reason why Vista is better for the USER. Why it is better for the entertainment industry, that’s another story (and there are enough web pages dealing with that ;o)
Krakatoa is heavily reliant on I/O, especially if you are rendering PRT’s on the network. Vista has greatly improved functionality for caching data over the network.
Also, XP64 has bugs with client-side cache that don’t exist in XP32 but are fixed in Vista64.
Finally, XP does not support NUMA. Vista does, so if you are running AMD processors, you will hamstring the memory performance with XP.

So, is vista working in a mixed network?
I will try it with vista first and then see what goes wrong… fear
