VMX Cloud Wizard for the Google Cloud Platform, Beta 1
We are pleased to announce the first beta of the VMX Cloud Wizard for Google Cloud Platform. Beta 1 supports only the 64-bit Windows platform.
Overview
The Cloud Wizard creates a basic Deadline/VMX compute farm on the Google Cloud Platform that can be used either as a starting point for a production environment or as a reference for building more sophisticated cloud processing pipelines. The installation includes pre-configured Slave images and demo jobs.
Availability
The Cloud Wizard is currently only being made available to Deadline 7 Beta Testers. To obtain the latest version of the Cloud Wizard, please visit the following link, complete the prerequisites as described, and then fill out and submit the request form at the bottom of the page: thinkboxsoftware.com/cloud-wizard-overview
Getting Started
The first beta does not have an installer. Instead, extract the zipped files into a folder on your Desktop (or elsewhere), and then right-click and run the cloudwizard.exe as Administrator. It is necessary to run the Cloud Wizard as Administrator so that the VPN and Repository configuration features will work properly.
Providing Feedback
For now, we request that all feedback on the Cloud Wizard be posted to the Deadline 7 Beta forum.
Known Issue
Over slow connections (such as typical residential DSL connections) or connections with high latency, the Monitor and/or Balancer UI may become temporarily unresponsive when accessing cloud-related features. In these cases, it is generally best to wait for the UI to return rather than forcibly terminating the application.
