"VNC viewer does not exist" Beta 2

Hi
When running the “ConnectWithVNC” script, i get a dialog saying “VNC viewer does not exist”. The path to Apple remote desktop is correct.

I don’t think the current VNC script will work with Apple remote desktop. But since you’re getting that error message, check to make sure you’re pointing to the executable file within the .app folder for the remote desktop application, not the .app folder itself.

Ok. It worked in 6. I tried pointing directly to the executable as well but i got the same result.

Oh, okay, sounds like a bug crept in then. I’ve attached an updated script here that will print out the path it’s trying to look for in the error message. Just unzip the attached file to \your\repository\scripts\General. Run it again and send us a screen shot of the error.

Also, how are you running the VNC script? Is it from the Scripts menu in the Monitor’s main menu bar, or is it from one of the right-click menus in a panel? If it’s the latter, which panel?

Thanks!

Hi
Same behavior from both right-click slave and from the menubar.
Your script actually starts Remote desktop, but it doesnt log on to the selected slave with remote desktop. It just show the main interface and thats it. No errors.

Ah, okay, thanks for clarifying that. I’m actually surprised this worked in v6. We didn’t change how the command line arguments were being passed to the executable, so if it somehow worked in 6, it should still be working the same in 6.1.

The current VNC script in 6 was never designed to work with or tested with Apple Remote Desktop, and if we do support it, we’ll probably want to do it with a separate script. I’ve added this to the wishlist for 6.1.

Hm. When you mention it  I cant say for certain if DL 6.0 actually opened the selected slave in Remote Desktop or if it just opened Remote Desktop and that i logged into the slave from the there. Probably the later.
