Volumetric Rendering in Beta4 broken ?

I am not really sure what is happening here. It looks like weird planes instead of volumes. The black ones with white edge are from a prt loader. The brighter ones are a legacy system (spray)

The other image shows a particle render of the exact same scene and view.

Any ideas what i am missing ?

Okay…this seems definately size related. If i create a standard Spray in a fresh scene. Turn on Volumetric, leave Voxel Size and Filter Size at 1 and zoom in i get similar artifacts (tho not as bad as the ploader ones in the previous example)

But is that expected behaviour ??

In the first example i posted the sim is rather small. But even tho the particles show big in the rendering they show the same artifacts.

My guess is that you are seeing some combination of unusually high densities, plus particularly bad framing (or resolution) of your lights. Try lowering the voxel size, the density and increasing the light’s shadow map resolution.

Thanks Darcy!

been looking into it some more. And it seems i did somehow bake in very weird densities it seems. Using KCE (yay for it, i love it ) i simple multiplied them way down and got a lot closer to what i was expecting!

had this exact same problem today, thankfully you guys posted for us newbies! lowering density fixes it.
