I am trying to render a scene as both a *.jpg image and a *vrimg. image using the Deadline SMTD submitter and 3dsMax2022 with VRay 5. I am saving the *jpg from the common tab, and the *vrimg from the VRay frame buffer rollout with V-Ray raw image file checked on and separate channels checked off. I am checking on ‘Remove Filename Padding’ checkbox under the render tab in the 3ds Max Pathing rollout to avoid the .0000 suffix in my filenames. When the checkbox is off, both image render and save to a network location correctly, with the .0000 suffix. When the checkbox is on, the *jpg file saves correctly with no suffix, but the *vrimg file does not save at all. Nothing changes other than the checkbox.
Am I missing something or is this a bug? Thank you in advance for any insight.
This was a known issue in the versions of Deadline below 10.1.23.6. If you are on less than that version please upgrade. Deadline did not support the path mapping for V-Ray frame buffer output in the versions less than 10.1.23.6.
I am using 10.3 and experiencing this issue. I have no problem saving images using the VRay frame buffer with Deadline. The issue with the *vrimg files not saving only occurs when the ‘Remove Filename Padding’ checkbox is enabled.
Are you running a different version of Deadline Repo Vs the Client? You can check the version on the machine in question from Deadline Monitor> Help> About> Check the Repo and Client versions are they same.
If the Repo and Client versions are same then check if you have got something in the repo’s custom folder [Repo]/custom/submission/3dsMax/ if not check the default folder [Repo]/submission/3dsMax/ to see if the scripts have same date modified. If not then you may have modifications in SubmitMaxToDeadline.
