Hi Conrad,
will it be possible to have an interactive preview on viewport for the whitecaps?
Also, the caps come out round for me, while the waves spikes are more long and thin - I expect to see something like that…
While we’re here - can we also have an option to blur the map?
It is possible for me to do a viewport preview, but because the map is quite slow at the moment, I did not include a preview mode. I agree with you that this would be a very good idea. I sort of did a half-way preview with the “single frame preview” checkbox in the foam exporter. I did it that way because at the moment all foam requires an export, which makes viewport previews difficult to do. I will have to think about how this could be done more interactively.
Also, I can add some filtering blur options to the foam map. The reason I didn’t initially is because smooth gradients in the foam gave a “half-mirror-reflection/half diffuse” appearance which sort of looked to me as if the foam were just underneath the surface. But I can definitely look at adding options in one of the next beta releases that would smooth out the foam edges with a little blur. Do you mean to have a slight gradient at the edges of the foam, or did you have something else in mind?
Slight gradient on the edges of the “islands”.
That’s because I tried to use the map as a base and mix it with a foam map, clamping it etc.
But without a gradient I wasn’t able to eliminate the hard edge of the whitecaps islands.
