Whitelist issue Deadline 5.2

There’s a little quirk with the whitelist that I’m hoping to find a work around for. Sometimes I whitelist a handful of machines to one job for testing or whatnot. When I remove those machines from the whitelist, the job then refuses to pick up any more machines. For some reason it is ignoring its assigned group and exclusively looking to the whitelist. Is this by design? Is there a work around that doesn’t involve me resubmitting the job or adding all of the group machines into the whitelist?

Hey James,

I think you just need to change the Whitelist to a Blacklist after you remove the machines (using the radio buttons). A job with an empty whitelist will never be picked up. Perhaps the whitelist should just be ignored if it’s empty…

Hi Ryan,

Yeah, that would make sense. Since we have a mixed bag of render machines on our farm, I’ve been using the white list to quickly isolate a job on certain reliable machines. I’ll try the whitelist/blacklist thing though. Thanks!
