Windows 10 and deadlineQuicktimeGenerator Error

Running a simple batch file using the deadlinequicktimegenerator I get an error on windows 10 but not on any of the windows 7 machines.
It actually exports the mov file but the QTgenerator crashes at the end when it says “Moving movie file to final destination” after it compresses it. So you have to keep clicking the error window after every compression job.

Hello Ilya,

Can I have you send, either via the forums or our support email, a sample job along with assets that we can use to try to replicate this? Also, can you advise the version of Deadline? Thanks.

Hi Dwight,
this is just a batch file that we run for local compression.
I’ve included the batch file, the frames and the xml file for QT settings using the Avid DNxHD codec.
Using Deadline 8.0.7.3

Hello,

So I did some testing and got some different errors from yours, so I need to figure out those in order to try and replicate this.

In the meantime, can I ask you to try to use the Draft feature to encode your Quicktime videos? You can find a bunch of sample scripts in “[repo]\draft\Samples” if you want to give it a try.

Hi Dwight,
thanks for looking into this.

We actually switched away from using Draft because we found it too slow for compressing frames, about five times slower than using the QT generator. Also, not sure if this changed as we tested a while back, the Avid DNxHD required an additional cost for the codec, so for us it was a lose-lose situation.

Right now we are all on windows 7 but our office is moving to a windows 10 environment in the next month so we really need this to work.

I believe those problems are still relevant here. Certainly the cost of DNxHD at $50 per node.

I’m not certain about the speed issues, but because Draft is a general-purpose toolkit, I wouldn’t be surprised if a streamlined pipeline for encoding images would be faster.
