Wishlist: Auto increment seeds only on enabled types

I have two particle systems, one that is a proxy for the other.

I would like to submit these to deadline with automatic seed incrementing, but I only want the system that is actually being saved to be incremented, not the proxy system.

So how about an option whereby we determine which systems we want to be incremented?

How do you suggest we do this best?

Using the current scene selection?

Or via an explicit list (we already have a list under “Particle Systems” rollout where you could select the Emitters you want affected by the Seed function)?

Or by creating a named selection set?

All this ways are easily doable, just need to figure out the best workflow - ideas are welcome! I think the first two are more obvious, with scene selection being the most natural…

This would require another checkbutton labeled something like “Change Seeds in Selected PFlows Only”.

Since the Particle Systems rollout list can be used to select the scene emitters, it would be an alternative way for quickly specifying your selection.

Selected seems to me to be the worst option, because I might accidentally unselect, and then I have 50 identical partitions.

If we could animate the seed, I’d just set the tracks on the proxy particle system to be constant. But we can’t… Animate Everything my ass…

I would say the Krakatoa: Particle Systems rollout would be a good place for checkboxes, but you’d need three for each, right? Position, Spawn, and Speed… Hmmm… The Partitioning rollout has all the seed bits, but it doesn’t list the systems.

Tough one. I’d vote for somehow getting some checkboxes in the Particle Systems rollout. Nothing elegant comes to mind though.
