Hey guys.
I find myself using Xmesh for Holdout Objects a lot. It would be great if there was a way to save the GEO with the resolution based of the camera. Especially on big scenes. Kinda like realflows mesher.
Any thoughts?

I think you are talking about frost, not xmesh.
You want to optimize the mesh based on the camera view? That sounds good to me. I will add that to our wish list.
Paul,
Thank you.
Seems like setting the LOD resolution would happen to the geometry before the XMesh was saved using whatever techniques were appropriate for that object/situation.
It might be interesting to LOAD different LOD’s from an XMesh based on a criteria like distance to camera, frustrum occupation, etc… But I wonder if something like a dedicated object or say a Substitute modifier might be better for that. Even just using maxscript to enable/disable several XMesh loaders that represent 1 object in different LOD’s might be enough, and would be currently fairly straightforward.
