You knew I would ask... Phoenix 2.0?

You know I am a Fume evangelist but those Phoenix 2.0 fluids just look like fun, and until I can afford naiad … I haven’t gotten an upgrade yet but does/will MX support PFD2.0?

Also I saw the new sub-forum on the SC board, any news on that front? I am really hoping to just skip the current version. Anyone can PM me if they like.

Don’t you read the Release Notes?
Krakatoa MX 2 already supports Phoenix to some extent.
We don’t have a dedicated PRT object for it yet, but if the FumeFX button in the Krakatoa GUI is checked and you have a PFD object in the scene, its particles will be rendered. That’s why the button is now labeled “>PRT FFX | PFD”.

That being said, I don’t have PFD2.0 installed and haven’t tested this. Darcy did it and promised it would work
So if anyone has access to it, try it out.

We will have a SC build at some point in the near future to ensure everything works before their released.

Hmm, yeah, doesn’t work for me. tried max2012 2.0_vray and 2.0_scanline.

Can you guys provide a working example?

Is this going to work with Frost too?

Chaos Group keeps giving me 2 week licenses so its tough to really do anything other than say “there it is, it worked at least once”

As far as I recall, you need to actually have particles (it doesn’t do anything like seeding off the voxels like the PRTFumeFX) and the FumeFx/Phoenix button pressed in the Krakatoa GUI.

Hmm, I sure seem to remember getting a frame to render quite some time ago with the old Phoenix build, I get nothing now. Shit it can all be a blur at times.

If it is particles then it is pflow and if it is pflow it is slow :frowning:

Of course unless I am seriously missing something in Phoenix’s output, which is certainly a possibility. :open_mouth:

LOL and I thought Frost had a big UI:

I don’t know too much about it, but one of the ‘channels’ you can have Phoenix simulate is ‘Particles’ (I think I saw it on the source or something like that). There is no PFlow involved.

Oh how weird, yep that be it, thanks

Hehe not as cool as I thought it would be  at least not yet…

Guess it appears it still possible to add vorticity particles though

I added this to our wish list.

Thanks Paul
