Does deadline 10.4 support Corona 13?

Hi

As the title says Does deadline 10.4 support Corona 13?

Deadline is in maintenance mode, so don’t expect any updates for any of the packages (aside from 3ds hopefully)

Your best bet is to edit the file manually and copy the last entry in

C:\DeadlineRepository10\plugins\Corona\Corona.param

[CoronaRenderExecutable7]
Type=multilinemultifilename
Category=Render Executables
CategoryOrder=0
Index=90
Label=Corona 7 Standalone Render Executable
Description=The path to the Corona 7 Render executable file used for rendering. Enter alternative paths on separate lines.
Default=C:\Program Files\Corona\Corona Renderer for 3ds Max\Standalone\Corona.exe;C:\Program Files\Corona\Corona Renderer for Cinema 4D\Standalone\Corona.exe

To

[CoronaRenderExecutable13]
Type=multilinemultifilename
Category=Render Executables
CategoryOrder=0
Index=100
Label=Corona 13 Standalone Render Executable
Description=The path to the Corona 13 Render executable file used for rendering. Enter alternative paths on separate lines.
Default=C:\Program Files\Corona\Corona Renderer for 3ds Max\Standalone\Corona.exe;C:\Program Files\Corona\Corona Renderer for Cinema 4D\Standalone\Corona.exe

Give that a try

can I do it from configure plugins ?

and what do you mean by “Deadline is in maintenance mode”

No, you need to modify the .param file shown in the post above, then it will appear in the window

@anthonygelatka

Does not work. Thank you for your time

Standalone for 14 worked for me

I also needed to modify the scripts file here

…\scripts\Submission\CoronaSubmission.py

around line 20 add the newer versions

CORONA_VERSIONS = ["1.4", "1.5", "1.6", "1.7", "2", "3", "4", "5", "6", "7", “13”, “14”, “15”, “99”]

Save the file and refresh scripts in Deadline Monitor

You should be able to submit to Corona 13> now

Make sure you update the path in the plugins options from the old one to the new one

C:\Program Files\Chaos\Corona\Corona Renderer for 3ds Max\Standalone\Corona.exe

@anthonygelatka

I appreciate your reply. But I do not follow what you are doing. Can you do a more detailed step by step of what you are doing?

maybe easier if you can explain your steps?

Are you submitting 3ds Max jobs or Corona Standalone?

I’ve tested both 3ds Max 2026 & Corona 14 submission, and Corona 14 submission, both worked for me.

The steps above are for submitting a standalone Corona job, this requires modifying the following files:-

C:\DeadlineRepository10\plugins\Corona\Corona.param
C:\DeadlineRepository10\scripts\Submission\CoronaSubmission.py

The param file adds an entry for the newer Corona version, and the py file adds an option to select that version from the Monitor submission menu

@anthonygelatka

I posted about this back a few years ago.

I am submitting an unwrapped max file with a custom rendering script. It work fine with MAX 2019 but MAX 2024 back then and I belive it is because deadline did not support Corona 10.

We now have MAX 2026 as our production version and still trying to submit the same thing except with MAX 2026 and Corona 13

My belief is deadline does not support above Corona 7 and why they do not render.

Your thoughts ?

Does it work without the custom script?

@anthonygelatka it does not.

If I download the max file and script from deadline and run script on max file outside deadline, it renders.

I’m using 10.4.2.3 and tested with 2026 and corona 14 and this worked fine, either :-\

  • running the file outside of deadline
  • submitting a 3ds file via the submitter in 3ds
  • exporting .crn in 3ds and submitting that via the Deadline Monitor

I also tried with 2027 and corona 15

I’m running windows 10, I’ve not tried on 11

The test is as simple as possible, teapot, light dome and camera, I set the time to 2 minutes for testing so it doesn’t run infinitely.

Are you running the deadline on the same machine with same user? can you send it back to the machine you’re submitting from? If not is it possible to run 3ds Max on the machine that is rendering?

@anthonygelatka

We are using Windows 10, deadline 10.4.2.3 and Corona 13.

I’ve been submitting custom bakes using a cutom script to render the bake. Our deadline setup has been setup on same server since deadline 2.

Like I said earlier Dealine 2 with custom bake and custom render script work with 2019.

With deadline 10.3 the custom bake and custom render script work with 2019 but not with 2024.

Now we are using 2026 and custom bake and custom render script work do not work with 2026 only by downloading the max file and script and running outside deadline.

I would like to try the changes you have above for Corona 13

@anthonygelatka

Also there is a difference between what you are sending to deadline which is a scene with a camera. I am sending custom bake and render script.

I would like to try what you did above with Corona 13

I would remove the custom script, test a teapot, light and camera.

Then look at the custom script, I’ve no idea what it’s doing or how it’s implemented.

If you have the old working deadline plugins you could compare the two files to see if anything stands out.

@anthonygelatka

setup a teapot with camera and light. When I render manually this is what I get

I do not get any output from deadline after I submit and in monitor it says complete

There’s no custom setup on my machine, standard install of everything

render in 3ds outputs an image

I deleted the output and submit via command prompt
render via 3dscmd outputs an image (it added frame number)

The I submit to Deadline (are you using latest submitter?)

I’m rendering back to the Worker running on my machine, so uncheck all the problems

Then I can watch the Worker process the job

and it does save the image

Strangely it throws an error regarding the temp image file, which also has the frame number attached

Might help to see your log file to determine why the file is not being saved.

I’ve also just notice 3dsmaxcmd runs corona 14, but that may have been my fault installing 15, either way every way i use gives me an image

@anthonygelatka it’s because deadline only uses up to Corona 7 and I’m using Corona 13.

You changed your deadline corona plugins so you’re using Corona 14 or Corona 15.
